books and Bible study material, on our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ’s saving
grace, directly to our church members’ homes, giving them the opportunity to
study and fit it into their busy schedules.
St Matthew's churches and
congregations vary in sizes (and we plan for more churches, as the
Lord provides), just as our citywide church revivals did. As an example, one
of
Saint Matthews Churches, in Texas, has 1700 families, with
approximately 5000 members, whereas in New York State, where we have
another one of Saint Matthews churches, there are only 400 families.
Neither Saint Matthews Churches nor its pastors and bishops are
televised or on the radio. Saint Matthews is not to be confused with
others who use the name Saint Matthews. None of St Matthews Churches
ministers are television preachers. They are just plain, old fashioned
ministers of the Gospel, telling people about Jesus Christ, heaven, hell
and eternity. Saint Matthews national churches do not sell anything.
They never have and never will. The gospel books, CD’s magazines and
gospel sermons are all given away, free of charge. These churches are
supported by people who wish to worship God with their prayers, tithes
and offerings, according to Malachi 3:10,11.
Saint Matthews Churches teach and preach that Jesus Christ died on
Calvary for our sins (St. John 3:16). The Church believes that Christ
died on the old rugged cross more than 2000 years ago, and that
whosoever will, may come to the cross of redemption to be saved, born
again and gain eternal life, after their life on this earth is completed
(Romans 10:9,10). We believe that Jesus Christ died on Calvary for all
mankind, and not just for one denomination.
Saint Matthews Churches teach and preach that everyone who accepts
Christ as their Lord and Savior should be baptized. Jesus said: “Ye
shall…be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with…” (St.
Matthew 20:23). When the Church first began, in 1951, the ministers and
members would gather at rivers and lakes to conduct our church baptisms,
but now the Church has baptisteries and conducts the services inside the
churches. (See historical photographs on river baptisms as congregations
sang, “Shall We Gather At The River”.)
St Matthews Churches teach and preach about Jesus Christ’s second coming
to take His Church to heaven, the signs of which are all around us
today. “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout,
with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead
in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be
caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air:
and so shall we ever be with the Lord.” I Thessalonians 4:16,17.
Saint Matthews Churches teach and preach: “Jesus Christ [is] the same
yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8. We believe and teach
that believers can have every blessing the Holy Bible promises us.
We preach and teach that Christ loves everyone, “And whosoever will, let
him [or her] take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17. Joining a
church can be very beneficial, and, if there is not a St Matthews
